Although I always imagined ending my term under different and happier conditions, none the less, I am grateful for having been blest by this experience. We were successful in our events, and more importantly, friendships were born and community was realized! I am sure I speak for many of you when I say, I am taking away so much more than I gave to St Brigids PTA.

It is my hope that our little community and friendships will continue after the last day of school. One of the great things about technology and the internet is the ability to stay together, so let's give it a try.

Parents: May God bless you and your families. May the Blessed Mother watch over and protect you wherever you go. May you and your children take the lessons you've learned at St. Brigids with you throughout all your lives. Where one door closes, a window opens - remember to let the sun shine in.

Teachers, Administration & Staff: May the Lord help you in your search for work. Most important, we parents thank you for the knowledge, patience and guidance you've showered upon our children. Being a teacher goes way beyond abc's and 123's. You sometimes had to wipe their tears, or be their counselor and role models. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.

PTA Officers & Members: Thank you for your time, talent, sweat and hard work. If I were ever on an island with nothing and had to choose a handful of people to survive with, I'd choose you! You all make great things happen out of nothing and for that, I'll be forever grateful!

And as my grandmother always said, say so long, not good bye, because good bye is forever, but so long means SEE YOU SOON!

Sincerely yours,

Mary Anne Cecchetto

,

2008 - 2010

PTA: MEETING NOTES 5/18

St. Brigids School
PTA Minutes
for
May 18, 2010
Present: Mary Anne Cecchetto, President
Rita Fahr, Treasurer
Sally Rushford, Member
Ralph Provenza, Principal / Administration
Meeting began at 6:30 pm and the minutes from the April 13th meeting were reviewed and approved.

Old Business
Treasurer's Report: The funds we have raised over the year have been spent down, used over the last few months to pay for some field trips and the remaining funds allotted to the overall school budget.Account has been zeroed out.
Semi-Formal: It was reported that the 7th and 8th graders had a wonderful and successful dance; Mrs. Spain did an outstanding job and there were many parent volunteers.

Upcoming Events: Awards Dinner, Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony: It was requested that PTA plan on attending and working these two programs.

New Business
It was decided that the PTA would host our final event by planning the Celebration of the 152 Years of St Brigids School, to be held Saturday, June 26th. Feedback from the home is encouraged. This becomes another tool teachers can use.

Flea Market / Garage Sale a Great Success
We would like to thank everyone who supported this event. From all accounts, it was a great success. We had many items to sell and many buyers. We raised nearly $3,500. The purpose was to focus on one of our core values and to give some special attention during that month. Throughout the month we look for examples of the word of the month through students' and adults' actions and deeds. September's word of the month is Prayerfulness.

Student Illness Policy
This is a reminder that if your child has a fever, pink eye, strep throat, vomiting, and diarrhea, he/she needs to be symptom free for 24 hours, without medication, before he/she returns to school. For example, if your child develops one of these conditions in school at 11am, he/she must be symptom free without medication for 24 hours, which means your child cannot return to school before 11am the next day.

Using School Planners
Students in grades 1-8 have planners that they are to use for school assignments. Sometimes teachers will write notes to parents in the planner. parents can also communicate with teachers in the same way. The planners contain a great deal of information about what's going on in school. It is very important that parents check planners on a daily basis.

Dates to Remember ( See September and October Calendars for more information )
Friday, Sept. 25th, 6pm - Athletic Association Meeting, Cafeteria
Sunday, Oct 4th, 12:30pm - Blessing of the Animals.
